1 Package of 50 Seeds
This large, fast growing tree to about 30 m tall from the birch family is native to forests in the Himalayas from Pakistan to Yunnan in southwest China between 500 and 3000 m elevation. It is an undemanding, easily grown and useful tree for its wood, for reforestation and erosion control and for its nitrogen-fixing properties.
In cultivation it does best in cool tropical climates but also adapts well to most warm temperate regions in USDA Zones 9 to 11, provided that they do not experience excessive summer heat. Germination: Soak seeds in water, let stand in water for 24 hours. Cold stratify for 2-3 months. Sow 1cm deep in coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet. Germination takes 4-8 weeks.
