- A native North American vine, distributed from the south-central and southwestern US to northern Mexico, where it generally grows at low elevations, in dry and sandy areas.
- Cucurbita digitata has dark green, palmate leaves with long, thin, finger-like segments that have a conspicuous, whitish midrib.
- The star-shaped yellow flowers are followed by round, longitudinally striped, dark-green fruits, containing white, edible seeds, which can be roasted and eaten as a snack. Hardy to USDA Zone 7.
Germination: Sow 1cm deep in sowing mix + sand or perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet. Germination takes 2-4 weeks.
