1 Package of 300 Seeds
Cherry Belle is an Heirloom Variety that can be planted in the spring or fall and is ready to eat 5 weeks after sowing.
It preferes cool growing temperatures and will tolerate some shade. Sow the seed as soon as the soil temperatures are bove 40 degrees F. This variety was the All America Selection Winner in 1949. It is bright red skinned with a crisp white inside.
It is never pithy and stays crunchy in the refrigerator. This is the variety that is most commonly seen in the supermarket, sold in bunches.
It can be grown indoors in the winter. It's flavor is mild and is great fresh, in salads or sandwiches. If you let some go to seed, the pods are edible. The young plants can also be eaten as a slightly spicy tasting micro-green.
A very versatile and easy to grow vegetable. If you like to eat them, you definitely should grow them!
Stratification: required. Germination: sow seed 1/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed. Other: spring sowing is prefered.
