1 package of 10 seeds
A small to medium-sized, dry deciduous tree to 12 m 40 ft. tall, native to spiny and dry forest in southwestern and central western Madagascar.
It has a thick, usually rather short, bottle-shaped trunk to 5 m 16 ft. in diameter and a compact, rather sparse crown. The attractive, large flowers are yellow and purple. The oldest, giant specimen of this tree in Madagascar reputedly has germinated about 3000 years ago and is one of the oldest trees on the planet.
In cultivation it does best in the dry tropics in USDA Zone 10 or above.
Germination: Soak the seeds 24 to 48 hours in room temperature water. Sow seeds in a well draining substrate.
