1 Package of 10 Seeds
This annual legume has a culinary history dating back to the Roman Empire and it is widely cultivated in many tropical and warm-temperate regions around the world, usually at lower elevations.
Vigna unguiculata varies in its growing habits and it can take the form of a low bush or develop as a vine, with trifoliate leaves and purple or white flowers, followed by pods with edible, kidney shaped seeds, which are usually prepared in stews, soups and curries.
The leaves and young pods are also edible. A wonderful, nitrogen-fixing plant, resistant to drought and tolerant of poor soils. Germination: Sow 1cm in coir or sowing mix + perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet.
