A cushion-forming alpine Celmisia in the daisy and sunflower family (Asteraceae), found in high elevation grassland or on rocky slopes on the South Island of New Zealand.
It forms a low subshrub or large mat of small rosettes with short, rigid, recurved, silvery leaves that are longitudinally ribbed and sticky. The daisy-like flowers are held on short stalks. Germination: Cold stratify up to 3 months in moist sowing mix. Slightly cover seeds in coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet.
