A dense shrub to about 3 m tall with arching branches, small, simple leaves with a tapering base and yellowish white, fragrant, bell-shaped flowers followed by small, edible, brownish fruits.
Coddia rudis is native to southern Africa, where it is found along forest margins, on rocky outcrops and in thickets.
It adapts well to cultivation in warm temperate climates and is easily grown from seed, which should be well soaked before sowing. Growing Info: Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours. Stratification: cold stratify for 60 days. Germination: sow seed 1/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed.
