A splendid perennial in the ginger family, usually up to 1 m (3 ft.) tall, native to the Malay Peninsula. It presents upright, slender stems, large, arching, oval-shaped leaves and gorgeous pink and white, rose-like flowers.
It is an excellent plant for the tropics in USDA Zones 10 and above. It is also prized as a long-lasting cut flower. Germination Soak seeds overnight. Plant 1/2" deep in mixture of rich soil. Keep warm, moist and in bright light. Germination can be slow.
