1 package of 25 seeds
This perennial grass is native to Eastern and Southern Africa, from Nigeria to Kenya, South Africa and Madagascar, growing in savannas and grasslands, on rocky hillsides and in disturbed areas.
It reaches about 1 m (3 ft.) in height and forms tufts, with unbranched culms, and purple inflorescences, very conspicuous in summer time.
An attractive ornamental for tropical and warm temperate, humid climates. Traditionally, Aristida junciformis was used for making brooms.
Germination: Direct sow either in late fall or early spring. Press the seed into the surface of the soil, compacting the soil very firmly. For spring planting, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 60 days before planting. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination.
