A small, pretty shrub in the Ericaceae or heath family that grows to only 80 cm tall, with tiny, densely set leaves and globose, white flowers followed by white, edible but bland fruits that are also very showy.
Gaultheria pumila var. leucocarpa is native to wet areas in the mountains of southern central Chile to 900 m. It will thrive in any humid, temperate climate and is very hardy to frost and snow.
Germination: Cover seeds only slightly with substrate: coir or sowing mix + perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet.
