A highly attractive shrub, rarely more than 4 m tall, originally from southeastern Brazil but cultivated and naturalized in other parts of the world. It has drooping branches, lanceolate, velvety, dark-green leaves, with conspicuous veins and large, showy purple flowers.
Tibouchina semidecandra is an ideal ornamental for climates without extremes of cold or heat in USDA Zones 10 and 11 and flowers nearly throughout the entire year. Germination: Light germinator! Only sprinkle on the surface of the substrate + slightly press on. Substrate: coir or sowing mix + perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet. Germination takes 3-6 weeks.
