A shrub with simple, grayish green leaves and attractive, reddish, tubular flowers in terminal clusters, followed by cherry-sized, golden yellow, heart-shaped fruits that are edible and sweet.
It is native to the Andes mountains in northwestern Peru. In cultivation it is best suited to warm temperate climates. Germination: Light germinator! Only sprinkle on the surface of the substrate + slightly press on. Substrate: coir or sowing mix + perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet. Germination takes 6-12 weeks.
