This attractive, scandent, sparsely branched, herbaceous shrub to about 2 m tall is found on the edge of rain and cloud forests in Colombia and Ecuador between 600 and 2500 m. It has large, oval leaves that are glossy green above and whitish beneath.
The large heads of yellow flowers remind that it is a member of the sunflower family. It is probably not in cultivation anywhere but would make an attractive ornamental for warm temperate and cool tropical areas. Germination: Only sprinkle on the surface of the substrate + slightly press on. Substrate: coir or sowing mix + perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet.
