A low, spreading, herbaceus, perennial shrub with finely hairy foliage and yellow flowers followed by cherry-sized, yellowish orange fruits in a dry papery husk. The fruits are edible and have traditionally been used to make sauces.
Physalis hederifolia is widely distributed in dry woodland and desert scrub in the western U.S. and in northern Mexico. Germination: Light germinator! Only sprinkle on the surface of the substrate + slightly press on. Substrate: coir or sowing mix + perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet.
