A lovely perennial that forms a cluster of narrow, often reddish leaves from an underground rhizome, giving rise to a purplish flower stalk with deep pinkish to brownish red, narrow, bell-shaped flowers with a yellow mouth in midsummer.
Native to Tasmania, where it is found in grasslands, it adapts well to many temperate climates. Germination: Cover only slightly with substrate: coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet. Germination takes 4-8 weeks.
