A dense, bushy shrub rarely over 1 m tall with succulent leaves and golden yellow flowers, native to dry scrubland and forest on sandy soils in southern Africa.
Senecio barbertonicus makes a wonderful and carefree ornamental for warm temperate zones and is fairly popular as such in South Africa. Germination: Light germinator! Cover only slightly with substrate: coir or sowing mix + sand or perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet. Germination takes 4-8 weeks.
