A succulent perennial related to Aloe that forms a tuft of fleshy, green leaves and upright, unbranched flower stalks with yellow or orange, star-shaped flowers.
Bulbine frutescens is native to South Africa and makes a nice drought and cold tolerant and care-free ornamental.
Its sap helps against burns like that of some Aloe. It also has a host of other medicinal uses. Germination: Cover seeds only lightly with substrate. Substrate: Coir, pure sand or sowing mix + 2/3 sand or perlite. Keep bright and constantly moist but not wet.
